The next time you get a difficult assignment, either from a client or your boss, think of this: how would have you felt if the work had been given to a competitor or coworker with the same responsibilities as you? If you would have been disappointed, take that perspective and use it to motivate you to do the work, no matter how difficult. Call it gratitude, perspective, or whatever you want--it's simply a matter of remembering why you do the work you do, and then acting as if you're still competing to do it every day.
